How to de-stink lillies?

I got the most beautiful bouquet of pure snow white lilies.. the only problem is that they stink!!

Does anyone know how to reduce or de-stink these flowers? My mom and I are highly sensitive to the smell and don't want to have to leave them outside or in the garage.

How to de-stink lillies?
You can cut the stamen and pistil off (the stuff in the middle with the pollen). This helps a little. BTW I love stargazer lilies but the smell makes me nauseous after a while.
Reply:Toss them. The scent glads are deep inside the flower and there for a purpose......to entice pollinating insects. Thank whoever sent you the flowers, thank them for the kind gesture finish up with "I never knew lilies were so strongly scented, a bit much for my nose."
Reply:Just tell the giver to give you a photo of lilies next time, since you're too ungracious to appreciate the thought behind somebody sending you the real thing!
Reply:I did not know that they stink. I love the smell of lilies.
Reply:I am having a problem trying to imagine a "stinking" lily, particularly one from a florist. I have met folks who can't abide a strongly scented flower, like say, tuberose, but they didn't consider it a stink, just too cloyingly sweet.
Reply:What is your problem! If you don't like them, throw them out. Otherwise, spray them with perfume. But, that would probably kill them so...throw 'em out!
Reply:They're not like skunks. You can't remove the scent glands.
