Snowflake theme?

I am planning a wedding with a snowflake theme in either Jan or Feb (not a christmas theme) and i seem to be having troble with finding a place to hold the Ceremony because we cant have it in a church because my fiancee is a witness. Help I live in a small town where there is tons of snow in the winter so we cant have it outside, unless we want to freeze our bottoms off. We are going to have the reception at a nice hotel. anybody with ideas please help

Oh yeah and if you have any other ideas such as center pieces, decorations, flowers, etc that would help too.

Snowflake theme?
Can you also hold the wedding ceremony in the hotel? Many hotels offer that as an option. They may have a second room you can use, or you can organize the reception room so that the wedding ceremony is held on the dance floor, or something along those lines.

That way you only have to rent one space, and guests don't have to travel from one event site to another in the snow.

If you're doing a snowflake theme, you might see about adding crystal beads to the flowers and decorations. It wouldn't take many to add a little bit of the same sort of sparkle you get when the sunlight hits the snow. Use silver accents here and there to reinforce the concept.

Best of luck and all joy to you and your intended.

ETA: One quick thought: the day after Christmas, literally thousands of snowflake-shaped decorations will go on sale for a pittance everywhere you look. Buy them then, and you can double the number of ornaments you can afford, making the whole wedding a winter wonderland.
Reply:A friend of mine did this last year, and it was amazing!! She was also worried about things looking "Christmas-y" and decided a snowflake theme would be better. She got married at a space at a college, but a hotel, banquet center, or community center would work great.

She used white Christmas lights and votive candles all over, and her centerpieces were tall bud vases with sticks that had plastic ice crystals on them. Around the vases she just used white votive candles, which looked great. She got everything at Micheal's super cheap, and it looked so beautiful!

For favors, she had a family friend crochet snowflake Christmas ornaments, and the caterer hung each favor on the guests' champagne glasses. It looked amazing!

Her colors were periwinkle and silver, the bridesmaids wore periwinkle strapless gowns, and the groomsmen wore silver vests. We each carried a single Cala Lilly -there were no other flowers. She saved a lot of money by skipping the flowers, and everything looked great.
Reply:Do you have a local country club or one close by? they usually offer wonderful deals in the off season such as those months. I would try there.

just google snowflake wedding themes and you should be able to find lots of ideas this way. i know martha stewart has a lot of them on her site as well.
Reply:Why can't you have the ceremony in the same Hotel?

They should be able to do it - hotels do weddings all the time!

Reply:As everyone else is saying, the hotel is the most practical and logical for your ceremony. One stop - since you are in a snow prone area, no one needs to travel to 2 venues in one day.

As for decorating - I found a great place for realistic fake snow http://www.sno-wonder.com/

Here are some great ideas for cakes, deocrating, etc. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en%26amp;q=...

While Corinne1029 and I usually agree on most things (must be the name - it's my full name too), not this time. I wouldn't give children scissors, glue or glitter at the wedding - it will be all over the place, nearby people and themselves. I would suggest printing up winter themed coloring pages and letting them color with colored pencils - they are much easier to deal with and easier to get stains out!

Good Luck!
Reply:Maybe you can hold it at the same hotel in another room? Or in the sam room. I am having an outdoor Ceremony but mother nature is always sunny ( so in case it is rainy we are holding it inside same place letting our guest sit in there seat as they would for dinner with us walking down as we normally would after the Ceremony.) Most hotel have an area for a ceremony. As for the DEC getting snowflake ideas will be easy w/Christmas's around the coroner also check out theknot.com they will have some idea's for you and you can change almost anything to make it your own!! Good Luck and Best Wishes!!
Reply:Can you use the hotel for the ceremony as well? Depending on how many guests you're inviting, you can ask about having it in a lobby or on the staircase, even. If you're having a bigger event, reserve two ballrooms or meeting spaces. Have one set up for the ceremony and the other for the reception. After the ceremony stuff has been taken down, maybe you can even open to use both rooms for the reception.

As for decorations, I love the idea of snowflakes everywhere. Ask if you can hang sparkly paper snowflakes from the ceiling. And you can use fake snow (you can buy sparkly fake snow at the craft store) to decorate your tables. You can also use snowflake cookies as a part of your dessert buffet or as a favor. Last but not least, if you have a kid's table, give them scissors, paper and glitter glue to make their own paper snowflakes.
Reply:Ceremony can be in a hotel. For centerpieces you can have white sparkly branches coming out of a small white rose bouquet.
Reply:My suggestion is the same as everyone elses. Hold the ceremony in the same hotel.

My friend had this same dilema. She wasn't a witness, but her parents were, and they were paying for the wedding, therefore it couldn't be held in a church. She had the ceremony and reception at the hotel, and it was beautiful.

If the reception room is big enough, arrange the guest tables to where there are tables on each side of the room, leaving a "aisle" in between. Guests can already be seated at their dinner table during the ceremony.

It worked out nice for her.
Reply:Have the ceremony at the hotel. They will set up the ballroom for the ceremony, move people to another area for the cocktail area while they rearrange the room and bring them back in for the reception.
Reply:ok, try to see if there are any conservatories or greenhouses that are being used for weddings. they are completely made of glass, so you can feel like you're outside but they are heated in winter so your guests will be comfortable. inside the greenhouse there are beautifully arrange greenery, since the greenhouse is able to grown things year round. consider having the wedding at the hotel or a large heated gazebo.

you could get glass bowls really cheap at the dollar store or ikea. fill the bowls with silver ornaments that you find on ebay for the centerpieces. you could also put sugared fruit in the bowls to create icy, winter wonderland theme. you can buy fake fruit really cheap, roll it lightly in clear glue, and then roll it in large, dusting sugar for the effect. it's cheap, plus you can do it far in advance.
